A Carat is…. | # | Jewellery — Administrator @ 12:53 pm

Diamonds are popular for jewelry such as diamond rings, eternity rings and necklaces, but many people are unaware of the factors that contribute to the wide price range that diamonds fall into. The price of a diamond is derived from an evaluation of its color, cut, clarity and carat weight. The less color that is visible in a diamond, the more valuable it is deemed to be. Some people perceive diamonds to be colorless, however many diamonds appear to have a normal brownish or yellow tint. A diamond’s cut, which is a significant factor in a diamond’s brilliance, is related not just to the shape of the diamond, but its polish and proportions as well as symmetry. Clarity is a relative measure of a diamond’s blemishes and internal characteristics (inclusions), where a diamond with less irregularities and inclusions will exhibit more brilliance, thus affecting a higher purchase price. Carat weight refers to the actual weight of a diamond, measured in carats, which is abbreviated “ct.” While each of the above factors contributes to the determined value of a diamond, here we examine what is meant by the fourth factor in determining a diamond’s value, carat weight.

Gold jewelry : Spiritual meaning | # | Jewellery — Administrator @ 12:50 pm

The world we live in is a world of impressions. People around you get an impression about you when they first glance at your clothes, shoes or accessories. Once they have done that, it is very hard to change their first impression, because that is the one that really matters.

Someone’s clothes can tell you about what friends that person has, what places they visit and their general activities. A pair of shoes can also make a statement about someone’s general behavior, but that is mostly one woman’s statement about another.

Wedding Cake | # | Jewellery — Administrator @ 3:30 am

Cake Jewellery

Cake Jewellery A NEW CONCEPT in the wedding cake arena.

Cake jewelery is capturing the imagination of many couples looking to order a wedding cake for 2006 and beyond.

Designer cake jewellery is all about using the same high quality crystals, semi-precious stones and other embellishments that you would expect to find on a top end designer tiara.

The quality of handmade cake jewellery and cake rings are clear to see with its intricate fusion of wire crystal or stone. It’s so much more than just wire and crystal and clearly the better designers will be in demand.

Crystal passes light in an array and colour even in the ambience of a candle lit room. It can be warm, cool or colourful but is always eye catching.

One useful benefit of using crystal and other embellishments is that your designer will have access to many shades of crystals or even an identical match to your tiara.

Unified jewellery marketing need time | # | Jewellery — Administrator @ 4:59 am

Gem and jewellery industry analysts and representatives at the 5th City of Gold Conference in Dubai concluded that the global industry is losing ground in the worldwide luxury market and will continue to do so unless it quickly develops and implements a unified marketing program. Over 380 delegates attended the two-day conference that ended on April 23.

Citing the futuristic view of the global industry encapsulated in a KPMG report, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) chairman Sanjay Kothari, said, “We need to look into new markets, identify new segments and new value propositions. Most of all, we need to contribute to creating a single unified global marketing master plan that we can then tailor to the regions of the world.”

Jewellery Store Franchises | # | Jewellery — Administrator @ 4:56 am

Jewellery comes in an almost inexhaustible range of styles and designs, with items ranging from thick gold chains for men to tiny droplets of diamond attached to tiaras or clothes. And the use, or significance, of jewellery has not differed much over thousands of years. Millions of various types of items are used as currency, for functional reasons such as a clasp or buckle, for fashion in order to show status or membership, with the ‘bling’ generation at the forefront, and as an artistic display.

The demand for platinum jewellery declined by 8 per cent to 1 million ounces, the fourth consecutive fall in 2006, owing to lower demand from major consuming countries, including China.

The mounting prices of the precious metal were responsible for the decline in demand, according to a report published by Gold Fields Mineral Services (GFMS), an independent consulatancy company. The demand has shrunk by 39 per cent since 1999. The report further added that higher platinum prices took their toll on nearly every platinum market, with the greatest decline in absolute terms of 8 per cent seen in China.
