Diamonds are popular for jewelry such as diamond rings, eternity rings and necklaces, but many people are unaware of the factors that contribute to the wide price range that diamonds fall into. The price of a diamond is derived from an evaluation of its color, cut, clarity and carat weight. The less color that is visible in a diamond, the more valuable it is deemed to be. Some people perceive diamonds to be colorless, however many diamonds appear to have a normal brownish or yellow tint. A diamond’s cut, which is a significant factor in a diamond’s brilliance, is related not just to the shape of the diamond, but its polish and proportions as well as symmetry. Clarity is a relative measure of a diamond’s blemishes and internal characteristics (inclusions), where a diamond with less irregularities and inclusions will exhibit more brilliance, thus affecting a higher purchase price. Carat weight refers to the actual weight of a diamond, measured in carats, which is abbreviated “ct.” While each of the above factors contributes to the determined value of a diamond, here we examine what is meant by the fourth factor in determining a diamond’s value, carat weight.

The world we live in is a world of impressions. People around you get an impression about you when they first glance at your clothes, shoes or accessories. Once they have done that, it is very hard to change their first impression, because that is the one that really matters.

A new study released in the well-respected American Journal of Health Behaviour documents new research that suggests poor body image contributes to a range dangerous health issues.

Poor body image is best described - and this is an example - by a 60kg person seeing themselves as too heavy, or wanting to be, for instance, 10kg lighter.

The new study suggests that High School girls view themselves as 5kg over their perceived ideal bodyweight, on average, which can then lead to potentially dangerous issues such as substance abuse, low self-esteem, poor eating habits and excessive dieting and even mental health issues.

Erectile dysfunction, sometimes called "impotence," is the repeated inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. The word "impotence" may also be used to describe other problems that interfere with sexual intercourse and reproduction, such as lack of sexual desire and problems with ejaculation or orgasm. Using the term erectile dysfunction makes it clear that those other problems are not involved.

Erectile dysfunction, or ED, can be a total inability to achieve erection, an inconsistent ability to do so, or a tendency to sustain only brief erections. These variations make defining ED and estimating its incidence difficult. Estimates range from 15 million to 30 million, depending on the definition used. According to the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS), for every 1,000 men in the United States, 7.7 physician office visits were made for ED in 1985. By 1999, that rate had nearly tripled to 22.3. The increase happened gradually, presumably as treatments such as vacuum devices and injectable drugs became more widely available and discussing erectile function became accepted. Perhaps the most publicized advance was the introduction of the oral drug sildenafil citrate (Viagra) in March 1998. NAMCS data on new drugs show an estimated 2.6 million mentions of Viagra at physician office visits in 1999, and one-third of those mentions occurred during visits for a diagnosis other than ED.

Why do they call it an asteroid when it’s outside the hemisphere, but call it a haemorrhoid when it’s on the outside of your ass?

Oh there are heaps of jokes about haemorrhoids, or piles, but if you suffer from them then you can guarantee one thing - they are not that funny.

Haemorrhoids can be extremely painful as they are in fact swollen veins that have come away from the muscle wall of either the rectum or the anus.

There is nothing more mortifying for young children than wetting the bed. It is even worse for older children and if their secret gets out - by siblings talking at school, or during a sleepover - and then their lives can become a misery.

And the sad thing is that bed-wetting is a very common problem.

In Australia almost a fifth of children wet their beds at age 5, about 5% at age 10, 2-3% at age 14 and 1-2% as teenagers. In the United States, figures show that between five and seven million youngsters wet their beds.
